This update brings a number of meaningful changes and improvements across the theme. I strongly recommend creating a full backup of your website before you upgrade, just to stay on the safe side and avoid any data loss. If you can, test the update in a staging environment first as well.
We’re happy to share the release of Docy Theme v4.0.0. This major update is all about improving the user experience, giving you more flexibility in the settings, and making the theme feel smoother overall. Whether you’re running a helpdesk, knowledge base, or documentation portal, this version adds useful new features, thoughtful design updates, and important fixes.
Below is an overview of the changes in the Docy documentation theme:
We’ve moved the meta fields over to the Codestar Framework (CSF). In practice, this makes customization and theme management feel much more streamlined, while also giving you a cleaner and more intuitive admin experience.
You can now embed videos directly into page banners, which gives your headers a more dynamic and engaging look.
The Search Banner is now used consistently across all pages, helping the design feel more cohesive and giving visitors a more familiar browsing experience throughout the site.
For hierarchical content, the parent page title now appears above the main page title in the banner. It’s a small change, but it makes navigation feel clearer and gives users better context about where they are.
Blog posts now include a last modified date. This is especially helpful for documentation and tutorials that get updated often, since readers can quickly see which version is the most current.
The search form now supports unlimited post types. You can choose which content types appear in search results by going to Theme Settings > Header > Search Banner.
The Cart block and Checkout page have been updated to feel cleaner and more modern. We’ve also refined grouped product pages, sticky tab icons, and navigation hover states so the overall experience feels smoother and more polished.
This release fixes several known issues, including mobile sidebar display problems, WooCommerce table header color inconsistencies, hero section stacking order (z-index) issues, and a minor PHP error connected to the video playlist widget.
Docy v4.0.0 continues our focus on building a modern, flexible, and reliable documentation solution. These updates are aimed at giving you better control in the admin area, a more polished visual experience, and a smoother experience for your visitors.
